Building a New Shed
Yahooo. It's finally time to get to the Backyard to do some projects. Although we're not quite done yet in the Front, the priority of our projects and time had shifted to where we have to start in the backyard. I'll reveal the reasons later down the road but the job at hand now is to complete this shed in 50 days.
Like every project, the very first thing needs to be completed is preparations. I had done my research and now it's time to put them into actions.
We are building a shed that's going to be 12x16. In square footage terms, it's a 192 square feet shed. You just multiply the width with the length and you get the square footage.
Why 192 Square Feet you might ask. Well, in my city and county, anything above the 200 square footage needs a permit and I do not want to go through that. We only
have 50 days to complete this project.
Another thing you must adhere to to meet the requirements of this city and town is that the structure must be at least 5 feet from your property line, in my case from the two sides of this shed measuring from the gates which I am sure is where my property line is.
In my backyard, there is a web of pipes for the sprinkler and we have to remove part of it so that they are out of the way. We use, again, pure manpower to dig out and cut these pipes.
The weather was so nice so we mixed in a bit of backyard BBQ and a few bottles of beer. I would call it a successful day.
A few things to remember when doing your own DIY project, always check with your city and county of the requirements. Sometimes you need to get the approval of the HOA (Home Owners Association) too.
